Math teacher Gabi Paulo has fostered 25 kids, adopted two kids and will be adopting two more in November. She recently got a new home where all her kids will live.

“There are more than 3,000 kids in the foster care system,” Paulo said. “A lot of people feel bad for them, but there are not a lot of people who are actually doing something about it.”

Paulo started adopting children about six years ago. She had to go through inspections with the police and health department to make sure she was a safe foster parent.

“We decided to do something about it because these kids need a home,” Paulo said. “They had to make sure we weren’t crazy.”

Paulo will have a family of seven (one biological child and four adopted children) this month.

“There should be no such thing as a kid without family,” Paulo said.
